Pulmonary Function Tests
I had a set of pulmonary function tests and good results today! These tests needed to be very positive because the cancerous lymph nodes are wrapped around my pulmonary artery which is the only blood supply to my right lung where the tumor is, and if the lymph nodes cannot be separated (to be removed) from the artery, it will be necessary to cap off that artery and remove my entire right lung. In that case, I will need to be able to function with one lung...and the results of my tests show that I currently have 100% pulmonary function (yes, I kept trying until I hit 100%), so this should not be a problem. They said "No Marathons" and no "Downhill skiiing in Denver"...obviously no problem.

Dear Lynn,
ReplyDeleteSince I heard your diagnosis, I have thought about you each day. I think about you, your family, my kids, and how kind you've been to them through the years.
I am very confident your surgery will go well. Everyone tells me you are an amazing person, and I believe attitude has a lot to do with healing.
I'd like to make your family a meal or two while you are recovering. Please keep in touch.

Hi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteI'm Ed Barrick, friend of Ellen and Bruce, from Dearborn.
I'm sorry to hear of your lung cancer. I'm sure God will hear our prayers for your successful surgery and rapid and complete recovery.
By way of encouragement, I was a lung cancer/TB suspect back in 1963 and had to have part of my left lung removed. I'm now 74 years old and have had a very active life, snow and water skiing and still play tennis 3 days per week.
I wish the very best for you.
With the love of Christ, I am,
Ed Barrick
