Lung Cancer Diagnosis
Well, here is the first entry in our blog. I will make the first entry and as many of them as I can. Most of you are already aware but here is little history for those who may not know...I have always had a nagging cough each fall with the change of seasons but this year, it didn't want to go away. I was treated for pneumonia which produced no positive effect on the cough. While waiting 3 weeks for an appointment with the pulmonologist, my Sweet Potato Queen friend Nurse Tammy Mary sent my butt to get a chest x-ray on December 1st. The call came a few minutes later and the next days and next weeks were full of PET scans, CT scans, MRI's, blood tests, biopsies, EKG's, stress tests...and more of the above. All to confirm I had lung cancer. It was difficult to believe that I had such a large tumor because, besides the nagging little cough, I was asymptomatic. I have yet one more test to evaluate my pulmonary functions for after the surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery will take place on January 5th at Froedtert. I am able to enjoy a blessed Christmas with my children, sisters, cousins and all their children. Keep the prayers and miracles coming. Lynn

ReplyDeleteI just heard the news and wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers. In working with you over the past 8 years - I know one thing for sure, you are the spunkiest and move driven little 5 footer that I know - and you WILL BEAT THIS THING! You will overcome and I know that you will be a role model for everyone both in your battle and in your recovery.
Hang in their girl :)
Just REMEMBER...........
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.

You are one of them!
Always in my prayers, blessings to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteMy heart sank today when I heard the news of your situation. I'm so sorry. However, I quickly realized that it was YOU who this was happening to and if there's anyone I know who won't lie still when situations arise that aren't part of the plan, and will kick the living daylights out of that unwanted/unplanned situation - it's you!
I'm anxious to hear when you'll be out and about again because we are looking forward to getting together with you - soon!
I believe your surgery was this morning and our prayers and thoughts have been with you and your family.
Take care Lynn and please know that you are well supported by friends and family and I'm proud to be considered part of the group.
With Love and much Respect,
Greg Johnstone
Thinking about you constantly, sweetie-- keeping up with all your "not-so-secret admirers" could be a full-time job!
ReplyDeleteYou're being toasted and virtually hugged and prayed for--can you feel the love?
I'll wait til you return to change the dress code. See you soon.
